Shortly after their daughter Jon Benet was murdered in December 1996, John and Patsy Ramsey founded a charity in their late child's name. The Jon Benet Ramsey Children's Foundation, they said, was set up to "raise money for children's education and care" and to protect against "the victimization of children." But as these excerpts from the group's 1997, 1998, and 1999 IRS returns show, the Ramsey charity has been a flop, making only two donations during that period (totaling $2769) while raising just $19,000. After giving a single $2000 gift to a Boulder, Colorado church, the Ramsey foundation finished last year with total assets of $6415. In 1998, the group made no donations while raising just $2703 (expenses that year were $2679). In 1997, Patsy (foundation president) and John (foundation veep) made one contribution: $769 to the Boulder Crime Stoppers program. As philanthropists, they make good murder suspects. (5 pages)
